Genealogy Trails

I’m an amateur Genealogist, I search the internet for the historical records of people. I like to find out where they came from, what they did for a living, what made them tick and hopefully get a feel for their lives. Rather than researching specific places or times, I’m concentrating on people that friends have asked me to look for.

I would like to dedicate my work here to the loving memory of the late Isobel King (1928-2016) who gave me the help and inspiration to start family history.

I have researched my own Daniels family tree and found that we’ve moved all the way from north Dorset in England to the dizzy heights of south Dorset…in 200 years? (Shock, horror! We were adventurous.) The above picture is of St Marys church in the village of Tarrant Crawford where time began…for the Daniells!…

…and so I took on other families and encountered destitution, borstal, alchoholism, Doctor Barnados and a secret Russian tryst; so secret that I haven’t found out about it yet!

My main project is researching the life of Rosa Waddleton who was born in Surrey, worked in London and died in Oxford; and tracing the descendants of the children that I believe she lost through simple naiviety.
